Cape Cod Craftsman House Plan

Cape Cod Craftsman House Plan

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERALike a kaleidoscope of architectural details, house plan 87584 embodies elements of Cape Cod, Craftsman and Victorian style. The front door is encased in a Victorian tower with stone veneer, and the light upstairs is like a beacon to guests as they arrive at your home on the corner. In the side gables, ocular transom windows reinforce the nautical theme of the tower lighthouse. Like New England homes that must withstand harsh winters, cedar shake siding dominates the exterior. On the second level, the flat wall plane is accented with cedar flare detail. These flares help shed rainwater or snow away from the walls while adding the Craftsman detail loved by so many homeowners. Two bay windows have a peripheral view of the front yard, and a cantilevered bay window juts out from the master bathroom upstairs.

Interior layout is arranged around a central rotunda with a beautiful pattern on the tile floor. For Christmas, the curved87584-P10 stair railing is decked with hanging garland, and poinsettia is arranged like a tree. Through the doorway is a view of the family room fireplace with twinkling candles on the mantle. Arranged much like homes from the 1800’s, the front living room and den are accessible from the left and right side of the foyer, respectively. Both rooms boast a bay window and fireplace as you can see from outside. White trim, pale tile and white wainscoting gives the living room a formal appearance which is juxtaposed with the warm informality of the den with its honey stained wood and leather furniture.

Instead of harsh overhead fixtures, recessed lights, under cabinet lights and pendants hanging over the large island create soothing ambiance in the kitchen. Rough textured edges on the island counter top adds a rustic quality to this luxurious kitchen. Wine storage is achieved in the passageway between the kitchen and dining room.

87584-P11Enjoy a two storey ceiling in the family room- the stone fireplace soars to the ceiling with Christmas wreaths and a red bow while stockings hang from the wooden mantle in preparation for Christmas. Tall windows bring in natural light, and a frosted tree stands at the room’s entrance.

Upstairs, a loft is arranged around the rotunda to provide access to the bedrooms and bonus room. Bedrooms two and three share a bathroom with double vanity, and the utility room is located conveniently on the opposite side. A slightly larger bedroom will accommodate guests with its full bathroom. The master suite is complete with fireplace, his and hers walk in closets and a full bathroom.
