Smoke drifts from a stone chimney, surpassing the height of the tallest pine trees surrounding House Plan 43212 in its cozy homestead clearing. With 1362 square feet, this home fits into every category whether you plan to build a small family house, vacation home, hunting trip getaway or retirement dream cottage. A full front porch says “welcome home” with exposed rafters and rough wooden columns with tapered stone supports. This design is one of our new house plans, and it comes with a full selection of photographs, allowing you to see the floor plans and the manifestation of final construction complete with interior design selected by one proud homeowner.
Gather around the fireplace in the living room where the floors are done in honey colored hardwood and the walls are painted with a textured tan finish. At night, these walls glow with warmth, and dancing light from the fire brings out the illusion of richness and depth. Your favorite colorful oil painting will fit on the heavy wooden mantle, and suede furniture complements the rustic vibe of the room. The dormer window above brings in added natural light along with a generous ledge for displaying antiques and collectibles. In the winter, imagine pushing through this heavy wooden door to be greeted by such a cheerful and comfortable space.
It’s impossible to enter the kitchen without running your hand over this impressive butcher block on the island. Recessed lighting coupled with modern hanging light fixtures sets off dark wood cabinets, thick wooden window frames and deep red walls. The dining / breakfast room is nestled into the kitchen with a plush window seat making up part of the seating at the table.
Functional space can be found on your way to the back door. The closet can double as a kitchen pantry. Across from the washer and dryer is a fantastic built in organization system. A bench provides a place to sit and pull boots on or off, hooks give you a convenient place for coats and book bags, and the upper shelves hold extra blankets, crafts or sporting gear. Through the back door is a covered porch which could be screened in for quiet evenings sans mosquito bites.
At the foot of the curved staircase is the door to the master suite which includes a modest bathroom with closet. A colorful quilt and smattering of antiques inspires nostalgia for a grandparent’s house. At the landing upstairs is a loft which looks down into the living room. One bedroom includes a reading nook in the dormer window and a walk in closet. Click here to see the plan details and more interior photographs of House Plan 43212.
