Energy Efficient Log House PlanFamily Home Plans
Log House Plan 59922 allows for an incredible view with an enormous façade of floor to ceiling windows. The central A frame design is enhanced with two flanking dormer windows and an expansive deck. Imagine this home perched on the edge of a mountainous landscape as you watch the sunset across miles of untamed wilderness. Okay, I admit to having quite an imagination, but it could happen! This is a modestly sized design at 1920 square feet, and it would work perfectly on a wooded lot for a full time home or even as a vacation prospect. Rustic homes like these are rented out in Gatlinburg, Tennessee and similar destinations. Construction is resilient, and 2 x 6 walls make it very energy efficient in cold climates.
Sunlight just pours into the great room from these windows! Can you see yourself rocking in that easy chair while your cat purrs and lolls in the warm sunbeam? Inside and out, this home is composed of cedar. All you need to think about in the great room is enjoying the tall cathedral ceiling and the view because you will never need to paint those walls! A wood stove keeps you warm on those chilly winter days.
Drywall downstairs is limited to the kitchen and painted in an outdoorsy olive green by this particular homeowner. Lower ceilings make the kitchen cozy for meal preparation, and the cabinets match the wood finish of the house. We love the iron light fixture over the kitchen table with its resemblance to twisting tree branches. Log homes encourage a strong connection with nature, and it’s nice to see this idea reflected even in the fixtures! A set of sliding wooden framed doors open to the front deck from the dining area. On your way out to the back covered porch is a powder room, storage pantry and coat closet.
The master bedroom on the main floor includes all that is desired in a modern home: a walk in closet and full bathroom with whirlpool tub and stand up shower. Upstairs are bedrooms 2 and 3 which share a full bathroom and a loft view into the great room below. Each room is decorated with a quilted bedspread, light carpeting and white walls with unpainted wood trim. Your walkout basement offers so much more with an extra bedroom, laundry room, small bathroom and two more spaces that can be used for all kinds of recreation.
