House Plans for Your Summer Vacation

House Plans for Your Summer Vacation

July brings the heat of summer, and if you’re like me, you are dreaming about a vacation that is long due. Vacation homes come in all shapes and sizes, and below is a sampling of our most popular getaway house plans.

House Plan 48295

House Plan 48295 boasts handsome stone and cedar shake siding. With 1128 square feet of living space, it may be a little small for year-round living, but it’s perfect for a weekend away by the lake. From the rear of the property, we see the walk out basement and stone pillars supporting an upper-level sun deck. If you spend most of the year in an office devoid of sunlight, you will appreciate the wall of tall windows surrounding a set of French doors which you can enjoy from the living room.  From the front door, we encounter a coat closet and the entrance to the master bathroom which is shared with guests on the main floor. Families really connect during a vacation: sleep in and then enjoy leisurely cooking breakfast while the kids lean on their elbows at the breakfast counter, telling you everything on their minds. An optional fireplace will warm the living room with its tall cathedral ceiling. Downstairs is a big, open family room, two smaller bedrooms, laundry room and bathroom with shower. In addition, we have plenty of storage and an optional garage.

House Plan 76012 is a little larger with 1370 square feet of living space. Stained wood siding gives this plan the

rustic look of a cabin, and the upper level porch appears to be perched on a pergola, shading part of the sun deck. Screen in the upper or lower portion and enjoy mosquito-free evenings in a rocking chair. A guest room is right off the front entry, and a closet accommodates a stacked washer and dryer on the opposite side. French doors from the great room allow a view into the back of the property, and this space is shared with the dining area and small, U shaped kitchen. Upper level skylights and tall windows tucked into the gables allow more light into these rooms. Two bedrooms upstairs share a bathroom. The master, of course, has private access to the upper porch that we noticed outside. Both bedrooms have a vaulted ceiling.

For a more luxurious vacation, and a home to fit the entire crew during the traditional family reunion, consider House Plan 64807 with its 2348 square feet, 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The impressive double-decker, columned façade opens both the main level and walkout basement for outdoor living. Inside, we have a “centering” concept with the living room furniture tucked in between the spiral staircase and half-circle of windows. In a clockwise arrangement from this central design are a dining room, kitchen, foyer, laundry, bathroom and bedroom with walk in closet. Upstairs, we have three bedrooms sharing one full bathroom and a loft that looks down into the living room.  A one car garage opens to the foyer and also houses the staircase to the basement.
