Q:What size are the posts and beams? Can I put two inch thick boards together to make my own beams? I assume they are bolted together get with angled steel, is that right? I like the plan, m just not sure I want to build my first house with posts and beams.

Q:I would be building in Black Mountain, NC Would this design and plans call for insulation that will meet national building codes, even though the house is on posts?
A:The floor and roof specify r30 insulation, and the walls are r21.

Q:Is this plan 70800 suitable to be built in a high snow load area (Pemberton BC, Canada). What PSF can the roof hold?
A:The roof is designed for a standard 40 psf roof load. The plans can be revised and reviewed by a structural engineer to support the required roof snow loading.
