The 6x6 wood posts by 9’, are the roof support posts at the exterior deck perimeter, on the first floor plan. There are indicated on the floor plan with an X in the 6x6 box location.
The 6x6 wood posts by 8’, are also at the exterior deck perimeter. These posts would be cut down (in half) to be the exterior 3’-6” high railing support posts. (ones that do not support the roof framing) They are indicated on the floor plan with no X in the 6x6 box.

Q:When we took our plans #76002 to the county for a building permit, they said they could not find a sheer strength on it. Could you please tell us where to find that or provide it? Thank you.
A:Exterior wall bracing required to resist imposed lateral loads resulting from wind or seismic loading, varies by geographic location. To meet these regionally specific conditions you will need to enlist the services of a structural engineer who is registered in the state where the construction will occur, as they are the only ones qualified to do so.
