A: The kitchen and breakfast area have a 9' ceiling ht. If your builder feels comfortable making the ceiling height changes on site, it can definitely be done. It will however affect the framing points and exterior views of the plan. The dotted line indicates the lower ceiling under the stairs as they turn up towards the bonus room. There would be room to put the storm shelter to the right of the stairs in the storage space. There is approximately 7' of width between the stairs and the exterior wall.
