Energy Efficient Farmhouse Plan
Beautifully arranged, this 3 bedroom period farmhouse style home is super energy efficient featuring 2x6 exterior walls and a host of other energy saving features. The interior contains an array of features on the most wanted list of homeowners including the very open design of the main living areas. The living room is open and bright and features a built-in library, wood burning fireplace and a sweeping stairwell entrance to the upstairs bonus room. The bonus room has been pre-planned with an adjoining bath making it the perfect space for a game room or home theatre. The kitchen is large, fully appointed and has an adjoining butler’s pantry. The utility room is but a step away but privately located and can also be accessed from the master bath for added convenience. The master bath is superb with its generous size, tray ceiling and built-in library. Best of all, there is a private patio for the owners including a low maintenance pergola for added beauty and comfort. The exceptionally large rear porch provides lots of room for outdoor entertaining and a breezeway to the two-car garage. This plan is also suitable for handicap accessibility with many features built into the design such as extra wide hallways and 3’ passage doors. If building to handicap accessible standards, the optional slab foundation is recommended.Ask the Designer any question you may have. A: The fireplace is an energy efficient pre-fabricated metal fireplace which is much more cost effective than a masonry fireplace since it is much less costly to purchase and operate. It is located in an interior space which is also much more efficient than an exterior wall since there is less heat loss. It also frees up the exterior wall so that more glass can be used to provide for natural light. The chimney is constructed of wood and finished with cultured stone which makes it much less expensive but provides the same function as a masonry chimney. Gas logs can be installed if preferred but it can also be used as a wood burning fireplace. Hopefully we have answered all of your concerns but please contact us if we can be of further assistance.
A: Yes you can! Please click the "Modifications" tab above to get more information.
