2-Story Modern Farmhouse with Grand Foyer and Larger Master Suite
Designed to capture the charm and romance of the opulent homes of the past, this classical design with hints of farmhouse style offers every conceivable luxury. The front façade is in perfect symmetry designed along a strong focal axis that begins at the center of the large front porch veranda and extends through the front entrance, foyer, living room, rear porch and terminates at the rear courtyard. The rear courtyard is left to the owner’s imagination and design preference, but it is ideal for a swimming pool and spa.
The multiple columns of the front porch veranda make a striking impression on arriving visitors. Once inside, the scene unfolds into a breathtaking view of the massive foyer and living area featuring two story boxed ceilings. Twin stairwells lead off in opposite directions from the foyer area and ascend to an upper-level balcony which surrounds the living room below. The balcony provides access to the upper-level matching bedrooms and to the rear balcony; however, it also houses a library on each side. Step out onto the grand balcony and one has a commanding view of the courtyard spaces below. Descending back to the main level, one has an open view of the palatial foyer below. Columns support the foyer ceiling and sit atop boxed pedestals. Located off the grand foyer, a guest bedroom includes a private guest bath and a large walk-in closet.
Past the columns of the foyer, steps lead to the sunken living room which features an abundance of built-in cabinets, bookshelves and a classical wood burning fireplace. From the living room, the upper-level balcony combined with the boxed ceilings provides a dramatic upward view. French doors with flanking windows provide a clear view or easy access to the rear courtyard. Four columns on the left of the living room frame the view of the kitchen area beyond. A bay eating area near the kitchen offers a great view of the rear courtyard and the outdoor dining veranda.
The kitchen area is designed for the most demanding professional chefs. It is equipped with all the usual built-ins plus a large buffet serving area. A broom closet is tucked into the passageway leading to the half bath. Only steps away, a small foyer provides access to the utility area, dining room or port-cochere. The port-cochere makes it very nice to drive in, unload groceries and deliver them straight into the butler’s pantry.
A grand guest suite awaits your overnight guest and for convenience, it is located on the main level. It is intentionally tucked into a very private part of the home to provide total privacy for your guests and owners alike. The guest suite features a full bath and walk-in closet.
A rear foyer off the eating area leads to the outdoor dining veranda and garage area. The veranda offers a shady area to dine or just enjoy the activities in the courtyard area. Built-in cabinets include a sink and an icemaker providing a convenient way to prepare outdoor meals. A half bath and outdoor shower is ideal if one chooses to use the courtyard for a pool. A storage room adjacent to the outdoor veranda can accommodate outdoor chairs and furniture.
Perhaps the grandest space of all is the plush master suite which is divided into four spaces. The owner’s study is complete with built-in desk and books and a near by half bath. The private bedroom area begins with a sitting area accented with a fireplace and TV area above. The fireplace and TV area is designed to allow for viewing from the sitting area and the bedroom area. The master bedroom is sunken and accessed by stairs located on either side of the fireplace. A bay window area provides an open view of the courtyard. Beyond the master bedroom is a luxurious bath complete with roman tub, separate shower, huge walk-in closet, private toilet area, linen storage and his and her vanity. A French door provides access from the bath to a covered porch area overlooking the courtyard.
Not to forget the kids, both upper level bedrooms are equally sized and offer the exact same amenities. Each has a private bathroom, large closet and a study area with a built-in desk. The equal size and amenities insure there will be no quarrels among kids when choosing rooms.
Typical ceiling heights are 10’ for both the upper and lower level.
